Irish Racing Driver, Matt Griffin returns to the track this weekend after a short summer break, for the round 4 of the European Le Mans Series, which is being held in Le Castellet, France.

Griffin will pilot the number 55 Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 GTe with championship teammates Duncan Cameron and Aaron Scott, the trio come to this race after a win in round 3 of the European Le Mans Series held at Redbullring, Austria in July and are currently 3rd in the championship.

“This weekend is the midway point in the ELMS Championship.  As a team we are still recovering after the DNF (Did Not Finish) at Monza due to an engine issue, however we were very strong throughout the weekend in Austria and the plan is to keep this ball rolling and bring that speed to Le Castellet this weekend. The aim is to win the race and not think about the championship, just go flat out” explained Griffin.

This race marks the second phase of what has been a really busy year for the Cork based driver having been competing in three different championships.  Griffin will be heading straight to Mexico from France for the next round of the World Endurance Championship and the latter half of the year consists mainly of the longhaul races.

Matt continues, “So far the season has crazy and I was very happy to get a couple of weeks off to recharge the batteries. I’m feeling good now and rearing to go this weekend in France and the WEC race in Mexico the week after”.

The weekend kicks off on Friday 25th August 2017 with the first free practice session.  A second free practice session with be held on Saturday morning followed by qualifying at 13.45.  The 4 hour race will begin at 12pm on Sunday.
