The Masters Superbike Championship returns this weekend following a five week break with three races on the Mondello Park International Track which will count for both the Masters and the Irish National Championship.

Having produced huge grids and superb action at the opening event in March the series is set for a significant boost this weekend as Road Racing star Dan Kneen and British Superstock Championship front runner Carl Phillips make a welcome return to Masters action.

Kneen will ride the Penz 13 BMW S1000RR which he will campaign on the roads this season, at the likes of the North West 200, TT, Horice and Macau. The Isle of Man resident has already had a successful start to his year with three Superbike wins so far in the Irish Championship and this weekend he will be looking to go one better than his previous Masters best of second place which he achieved back in 2014.

Former Supersport Champion Carl Phillips will make his Masters Superbike debut this weekend riding the Michael Dunlop Racing Suzuki which he has been racing in the BSB supporting National Superstock Championship. Philips who holds the record for the most Supersport podiums in Masters history, last raced in the Masters at Bishopscourt last year where he took a single podium finish.

All of the regular front runners will be in attendance for Masters Superbike Championship event two which has attracted a very impressive entry particularly in the Supersport class. Once again in Supersport there which be more than fifty entrants fighting for the 32 places on the championship race grid with the ‘Cup’ battle likely to be the tightest particularly with the Aidan Lynam trophy up for grabs for race three.

The race action gets underway on Saturday afternoon with the first of three races for each class. Sunday’s programme will see the remaining races for each class run off with the afternoon action focusing on the feature Supersport and Superbike races.
