The Irish Motor Racing Club will be in charge of the second Irish Championship Car Race event of the season this Sunday, April 9th, on the Mondello Park National Track. The fourteen race timetable will be made up of double headers for all of the classes competing with most making their first appearance of the season.

The biggest entries once again are in the Mondello Park promoted Patch Tyre Equipment Fiesta ST Championship and the Mondello Park Fiesta Zetec Championship which will both tackle their second double header of the year. With more than twenty cars entered for each class these two series will be the ones to watch especially in race two when the top positions from race one will be reversed to form the grid.

All of the remaining championships on Sunday’s bill will be making their 2017 Mondello Park debut with the ASK Supercars one of the most eagerly anticipated. The championship is sponsored by Pirelli for 2017 and has attracted back a number of the front runners from last season. Former Champion Peter Barrable should start as favourite as he heads into his third year in the championship. The Supercars will be joined on the grid by the Seat Supercup which kicks off its second full year.

Following a couple of seasons with lower numbers the Irish Touring Car Championship is set for the addition of some new drivers and cars. 2016 Fiesta ST front runner Ulick Burke graduates to the championship with a Honda Integra and the class will also benefit from the return of Brian Sexton with a Mazda MX6. Also Mazda mounted will be Shane Rabbitt who will be the man to beat if he can get his spectacular Rotary engined car to run reliably.

The remaining races will be contested by the big open single seaters of BOSS Ireland alongside two races each for the HRCA Historic Championship and Ginetta Junior Ireland.

Tickets for Sundays event are available at discounted prices from www.mondellopark.ie where the event timetable can also be found.
