Cadet, Michael Gray (9) Wins Round 3 Of MI Karting Championship

“Dubliner Michael Gray (9) won Round 3 of the Motorsport Ireland Karting Championship, held at WhiteRiver Karting, Louth on the 26th of May.

Competing in the Cadet Class (8-13), Round 3 saw another large amount of entries (26) making up the 2nd Largest Cadet grid seen this year.

For Michael, the qualifying heats went well, starting Heat 1 in P4 and Finishing in P1, along with setting the fastest lap in the heat.

Starting Heat 2 in P14, Michael worked his way up the pack, ending in P4 crossing the line.

Qualifying in P1 for the Pre-Final, the outside pack got a better start and Gray found himself back in 4th position, with work to be done to catch up.

Michael worked his way back up the pack and a close and fair battle with the leader Thomas Thompson ensued, with Michael taking the P1 at the at the chequered flag.

Starting in P1 for the Final, Michael and Thomas broke away from the rest of the field.

With Michael leading the Race, Great Close Racing ensued, with the lead swapping twice in the Final Stages.

Gray took the victory at the chequered Flag in this close Final.
