POSTED 27th May 2019 CIRCUIT Megan Campbell Pushes One Step Closer To NI Fiesta Glory 18 year old Megan Campbell from Strangford county down competed in the Kirkistown Fiesta championship last weekend (25/05/2019) weekend for her second race outing of the year. Last time out in the kirkistown Fiesta championship, Megan managed to grab a podium and this weekend she stepped it up another level. Qualifying was tricky with the weather between rain and sun making the track greasy and hard to adapt to on a dry setup. Megan qualified an impressive third on the grid for both races. The rain cleared off for race one and the first race of the day was underway. Megan got a good start and held onto third. While trying to push for second she engaged in a battle with Stephan walker who was putting pressure on behind. This allowed the cars ahead to pull a gap and megan finished 3rd to take her second podium out of two races. Race two started, the rain was light and making the track very greasy. Megan was in third once again but all over the back of Desi Mcglade the race one winner who was in second. Coming out of the final hairpin the Ginetta Junior Ireland graduate got a great run on Mcglade and managed to come along side Desi Mcglade going into Debtors dip! She stuck the car on the inside with an outstanding dummy move and managed to make the overtake stick, taking her first second position of the season all while setting the fastest lap of the race twice! “It was an extremely fun race I really enjoyed the challenge and the great battle with Desi Mcglade” was what Megan had to say after race two. Two brilliant drives from Megan Campbell in her second race weekend in The kirkistown fiesta championship. Only one step away from the top! She is certainly one to watch.
