Formula Boss Ireland Set For Season Opener in Mondello Park

Formula Boss Ireland have launched their 2019 season in the wonderful grounds of championship sponsor, Finnstown Castle Hotel, in Lucan, Co Dublin.

The series which attracts the fastest racing cars in Irish motorsport, looks set for an exciting and action packed season as 17 of Irelands top racing car drivers have signed up to compete for the 2019 crown at circuits throughout Ireland with the opening races of the season taking place at County Kildare’s Mondello Park

on Saturday April 13th.

The season will consist of eleven rounds held over six weekends.

Reigning champion Paul O’ Connell from County Limerick was on hand at the launch with his newly acquired Dallara World Series car which boasts almost 500bhp and is looking forward to defending his 2018 championship. ”I had a fantastic season in 2018 in my F3 car and I can’t wait to get the new season underway. Learning the World Series Dallara will be a challenge in itself not to mention racing against a packed grid of great cars and drivers who I’m sure will be out to stop me making it

two in a row!”

2017 Champion, Enniscorthy man Peter Dwyer, driving a world series Lola will hope to put a stop on Paul. Peter’s car has just had an engine rebuild.

Also on show we had 2 Formula 3000 cars, 1 belonging to Clare man Donal Griffin (Reynard 90D F3000/5000cc) the other belongs to John Daly (Lola F3000/3800cc)

Sam Mansfield, the hotel proprietor had his rebuilt Radical SR8 there as well and hopes to push these other big cars very hard. Last year Sam took the Bishopscourt lap record!

Sam is looking forward to the 2019 season and delighted to be involved with Ireland’s fastest racing cars and also the teams and drivers competing in the Formula Boss Ireland Championship. All the drivers are at a top level in Ireland and very passionate about what they do. Over the past few months we have put much time into organising the championship and this year with 17 drivers registered, the work has gladly paid off. This is not something anybody will want to miss and that is the reason he wanted “Finnstown Castle Hotel” on the side of each car.

WE had a couple of our smaller engine cars on show as well, Meath man Fergus Faherty had his Formula 3 Dallara and Barry Rabbit had his “look alike” Formula 1 Jordan 191 Formula Renault. These two lads will give the bigger cars a good run if weather conditions turn damp or worse at any of the races.

Then of course we have 10 other cars that fancy a go at the Championship.

At our first race in Mondello Park all our cars will be in garages 1 to 10, so everyone is invited to come along and talk to the drivers and admire the cars.

We will have a substantial cheque for the driver that breaks the lap record at Mondello Park International Circuit, Kirkistown Circuit and Bishopscourt Circuit, thanks to our kind sponsors, Finnstown Castle Hotel, Dalco engineering, First Class Fireplaces, Dan Daly Engines, Drennan Oil Products (Elf) and Crecora Mills.
