POSTED 28th May 2019 CIRCUIT Harper To Make Guest Porsche Supercup Entry On British Grand Prix Weekend Rising star Daniel Harper is set for the biggest race weekend of his career so far later this year as he makes a guest appearance in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup on the support bill for the 2019 Formula 1 Rolex British Grand Prix at Silverstone (12-14 July). The 2018/19 Porsche GB Junior driver and current Porsche Carrera Cup GB championship leader will get the chance to pit himself against the best one-make Carrera Cup drivers in the world, with a grid of around thirty identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars expected for Silverstone. The Mobil 1 Supercup, which runs solely as a support championship for Formula 1, is the pinnacle of Porsche’s global one-make motorsport pyramid and has been recognised as one of the most competitive GT championships in the world for over 20 years. With the sole race of the weekend set to take place on the Sunday morning ahead of the British Grand Prix itself, this exciting opportunity gives Harper the chance to race in front of an anticipated trackside crowd of over 100,000 people, as well as a global television audience. The Northern Irishman and his JTR team will be able to eye up the opposition and get some crucial mileage under their belt around the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit during an official two-day championship test this week (29-30 May). Daniel Harper: “It’s a very exciting opportunity for me and the team to be able to make a guest entry into the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at Silverstone. Having watched the British Grand Prix my whole life, to race as part of the F1 weekend is going to be an awesome experience. “This is a going to be a great learning experience for me, putting myself up against the best one-make Porsche drivers in the world. The competition is going to be incredibly tough, but I’m hoping I can go out there and prove I can compete with the best. “I’m going to be working incredibly hard between now and then to make sure I’m in a position to maximise this chance to showcase my talent to a wider audience. Hopefully if I can do well and prove myself in the Supercup paddock, it might open doors as I look to progress in my career.” The Supercup outing will be one of three race meetings for Harper at Silverstone this season. The Carrera Cup GB will be competing there in support of the FIA World Endurance Championship (30 August-1st September) and then the British Touring Car Championship (27-29 September). Prior to his Supercup debut, Harper has two outings in the Carrera Cup GB to tackle in his IFS Global Logistics and fonaCAB supported Porsche, with visits to Croft in North Yorkshire (14-16 June) and then Oulton Park in Cheshire (28-30 June).
