Megan Campbell Shines In First NI Fiesta Race

18 year old Ginetta Junior Ireland graduate Megan Campbell took to the fast Kirkistown circuit for her first race in the Northern Irish fiesta championship this weekend. The Andrew Clarke memorial trophy winner qualified third in extremely wet conditions.

Race one started and megan ended up on the outside going through debtors dip corner which meant she was pushed back to 4th place. After fighting hard an accident in fisherman’s corner meant a red flag was brought out and the race was re started. Much of the same happened again and after I big tank slapped megan fell down the grid. She fought hard to get back to 4th and ran out of time.

Race two was phenomenal, megan got off the line and took the lead from third place. The extreme wet seemed to be catching all of the drivers out and megan kept her head and kept it on the track. Going through the chicane megan had a very sideways moment but skillfully corrected the car unfortunately she had now dropped way back and was down to 4th again. Megan battle hard and drove the car to its absolute limit to get back to third position on the last lap and take her first podium in her first NI Fiesta championship race.

Megan will be certainly one to watch this season and shows the level of talented female drivers we have in the country at the moment.
