“Dubliner Michael Gray (9) won the Irish O Plate held at Kartworld, Watergrass Hill, by Munster Kart Club on the 23rd of March.

Competing in the Cadet Class (8-13), which had the highest number of entries at the event, Gray was quickest in morning practice.

With drafting and towing playing a big part for Cadets in Watergrass hill, Gray qualified 3rd on his own.

A slow start on his side of the grid, saw Gray going over the line in 5th at the start of the Pre-Final.

He worked his way up to 2nd by Lap two and took victory by the chequered flag, whilst also setting the fastest lap.

In the final three young cadets quickly broke away from the rest of the pack.

In close racing the lead swapped place a number of times for the first half of the race, until Gray took lead from lap 10 to chequered flag.
